This year at the annual Grand Prixmiere Benefit Auction in Detroit, which is one of the highest profile events in the auto industry, auctioneer Scott Swenson of Jones Swenson Auctions broke the all time record in money raised from the auction stand. In five lots, Swenson hammered down over $1.8M, with the highlight of the evening showcasing a custom 2026 XR1 Corvette with VIN 001 for $1.4M. The sale of the Corvette and the total for the evening were the highest grossing single item and total sale for the benefit auction and also in Swenson’s forty two year career. “I couldn’t have done it without my A-Team of ringmen from Sheridan Auctions in Mason, MI. These guys have been making me look good for the twelve years I’ve been conducting this auction”.
Along with his commercial auction business, Swenson has been raising money for charities across the country since he graduated from auction school in 1983. Funds raised at the 2025 PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet benefit the Belle Isle Conservancy, Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, Detroit Public Safety Foundation, Detroit 300 Conservancy and the Pope Francis Center in Detroit.
