MADISON, WIS. - Members of the National Auctioneers Association (NAA) have elected a Dallas businessman to lead the organization for the coming year. The election took place July 15th during the 55th International Auctioneers Conference and Show in Madison, Wis.
A 25-year veteran of the industry, Mike Jones, CAI, said he is humbled to be named to head the 7,000-plus member organization, and he has a number of far-reaching goals. They include greater worldwide visibility and exposure of the organization; more educational opportunities and benefits for members; and an auction education program for children.
Jones is the president of Mike Jones Auction Group, Inc. and president/director of the Texas Auction Academy, Dallas/Fort Worth. A Board member since 1999, Jones' offices have included vice-president and president-elect. He holds the International Auctioneer Champion title for 1998, and the 1995 Texas State Champion Auctioneer title. He served as President of the Texas Auctioneers Association in 1994-95. Jones replaces interim President and Chairman of the Board Larry Theurer, CAI, GPPA, of Wellington, KS, who will continue a second term as chairman of the board. (Theurer took the presidential reins in October upon the death of President Larry McCool).
With more than 7,000 members from throughout the world, the National Auctioneers Association is the largest organization of its kind dedicated to promoting the $203 billion dollar auction industry and enhancing the professionalism of its members. Member benefits range from federal legislative representation to comprehensive continuing education programs.
